GENERAL UPDATE
HEY Y’ALL. I’m back. The general hijinks that have plagued my year thus far seem to be shifting toward a simmer rather than a full-out rolling boil (at least internally and in the small microcosm of my life.)
I will return to a more stable cadence next week as I roll out the new “format” of HAUS NOTES starting next Thursday, 3/14. As I have alluded to, I have struggled since joining this platform on a whim to find what I truly wanted to write about.
Especially against the backdrop of this honestly terrifying liminal space we collectively seem to be occupying in time.
As often happens with my cart-before-the-horse nature, I needed to step back and spend some time reflecting and recentering. It took longer than I wanted it to. But I am grateful for the delayed progress because I am so excited about what’s next! I have (at last!) found a framework that speaks to all the topics I want to highlight while keeping things vibrationally high.
You can read more about this content “shake-up” below, in the OF NOTE section of this newsletter. But as not to yammer on, I leave you with this week’s offerings;)

SPR ‘24 VIBE: STRUCTURAL FUNK IN BUTTERED RUM
It’s giving off a warm drama springtime energy, and I am here for it.
QUICK TIP: FINDING WHAT’S TRENDING FOR YOU
Mood boarding/image-sourcing is an excellent exercise in uncovering what is “trending” for me, especially when doing any style overhaul. Be it of the home, the closet, or even the mind.
It is easier if you are anything like me and save images, products, art, videos, articles, and memes like it’s a form of sustenance. I am everywhere you want to be on the interwebs. I am a little like a Visa card, I suppose…lol. I have things saved from EVERYWHERE.
If you have a life outside of mining the internet, you might need to start from scratch or update a neglected Pinterest account! (I would give myself at least two weeks of inspiration sourcing.) The most important thing is not to be too intentional about this part and try to use an array of resources. Just pin and save (or whatever your method is) to your heart’s content. This is the easy part:)
If you fall into the former category, look at the last few months of your stashed visual goodies, aspirations, and wishlists.
Once you have your “inspo assets” rounded up, grab a pen and paper or take to your notes app and do the following:
Review if you can see any common themes emerge. What are the repeat colors, lines, patterns, or styles? What words, ideas, and emotions do these images provoke? Try to find at least 3 distinct descriptors as they emerge.
Pay extra attention to the outliers. Is there something you are drawn to but may feel out of step with the bulk of your saved content? Try to articulate what makes it different but alluring. WRITE IT DOWN. Consider if this is something you are interested in experimenting with or perhaps even why you may shy away from using it.
Finally, you can start pulling these personal associations together to create a larger picture of your endeavor (whatever it may be.) Take what you learned from assessing your content and synthesize it alongside your objectives, needs, and desires. There is no “right way” to do this part. But, if you allow yourself to feel through the process, it comes with the bonus of more self-awareness that can often lead to actualization.
I did this exercise for the spring ‘24 vibes “mood board” above. I’d felt adrift in myself and my direction in the last few months. This helped to visually set the tone of my intention going forward into this year, during and past my Pisces power season!
It is the design vibe I feel reflects my design vision for this year’s spring season. Moreover, it imbued me with the spirit in which I want to move through the season: warm, structured, and funky!
OF NOTE: HAUS 2.0
So this is the situation - beyond talking about design, I want to talk about SPACES and OBJECTS.
To make a finer point, I want to:
deep-dive into the private, communal, public, commercial, and (sometimes) even ephemeral spaces we exist in (or outside of.)
explore the objects (and materials) we employ in our spaces.
In particular, I want to write about how we conceptualize, build, utilize, and relate to these spaces and objects. With an eye toward their purpose, function, form, and societal status through their evolution from conception to the future.
Ultimately, how have our spaces and objects helped or hindered us, individually, communally, and globally?
This a broad lens, I know. While I don’t think it is a complete detour from what I likely intrinsically wanted to do here, it did take some time for it to congeal in this brain of mine. So, I realize it might be a bit of a tone shift for my readers.
That said, I still plan on doing a healthy dose of sharing my favorite products, latest finds, DIYs, and inspiration alongside my ‘little adventures and random musings.
I hope this new format will allow me to express and share the very real human joy that can be derived from design. While creating throughlines of context to issues that will collectively affect our future and our day-to-day in the now.
With all that said, starting Thursday next week, the cadence of HAUS NOTES will be as follows:
Thursdays: an object(ive) state, exploring the objects (and materials) we employ in our spaces
Sundays: the sourcing station, a hodgepodge of things that I love and vibe, as well as inspiring things, are of note(worthiness), and just downright delightful. (random musings are always included.)
Tuesdays: in a state of space, a deep dive into the private, communal, public, commercial, and (sometimes) even ephemeral spaces we exist in (or outside of.)
I hope you’re as excited as I am for this next foray into the HAUS NOTES experience!
VIBE HEADING INTO FRIDAY (AND FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR.)
See ya next week! 👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼

As always - so much grand and colourful goodness in this post! Loved it! I’m considering a dark green colour drenched room…but…I just don’t know if I’ll be able to hold myself back from including other colours :-)! We shall see…
